The rules in detail
Mega-Sena draws 6 numbers from 1 to 60. No extra number is drawn, so the top prize depends on those six alone.
On the slip a player can mark anywhere from 6 to 20 numbers. The base bet of 6 numbers costs R$ 6.00 at odds of 1 in 50,063,860, and those are the price and odds shown on this page. A bet with more marks covers every six-number combination that can be made from them, and CAIXA's table prices it that way: 7 numbers cost R$ 42.00 (1 in 7,151,980), and 20 numbers, which contain 38,760 such combinations, cost R$ 232,560.00 (1 in 1,292).
The operator is CAIXA Econômica Federal (Loterias CAIXA). Its November 2026 schedule puts draws on Tuesday and Thursday starting at 21:00 and on Sunday starting at 11:00. The days can also change from one week to another.
Contest 1 was drawn on 11 March 1996. The official page states no date for a rule change.
